The Veil

There’s a thin veil we’ve made
between our-selves
and those-selves
The cobwebs from old lies.
Stretched worn and inside,
Wrapped thin and bleached,
the little truths we hold dear.
We peer through a lithe film, suspended;
gauze over our eyes, we adjust
in gradual progression
to seeing and speaking
a little less clearly
A chasm or cleft,
both things appear the same.
