About
(if you like music while you read. 1 minutes 36 seconds of your time)
"I handle the piano notes no better than many others, but the pauses - ah! That is where the art resides." - Arthur Runbinstein
Nice things said by other people about me:
"I think of Fallow Dear who has discovered so many awesome talents during this workshop and is leaning into them with real intention and resolve. What I’m most struck by though, is that she seems to be completely focused on the good and value that will come from it. She has become amazingly aware that others can and will benefit from seeing her work through the process of developing her art. Her desire is to refine her talents publicly, in a way that helps inspire as many as possible during her journey."
"So grateful to be able to witness your process of unfolding here."
"You are indeed a deer. The speed at which you run is impossible to fathom. Every day you unfold more and more… all the elements apply - you are on fire, running water, gusting wind…"
- I'm a multicreative working mostly in vignettes, poems, spoken word and piano.
- 'Fallow Dear' is a project of mine which is a process of unfolding. I keep it relatively private from my main work. Additionally, I try to separate myself, even from and especially from family/friends/partners, when I write. This can offend them. So I use the 'pseudonym' Fallow Dear as my persona here. I used to worry there were all these people out there judging me as a collaborative effort, but the older I get, the less it matters.
- I like to make a lot and I surround myself with people who want to do the same. I'm not very good at chilling out or watching TV. That's one thing people find odd about me. My idea of hell is going to the cinema.
- Those who know me describe me as having unlimited energy and ask me how I do it all. I don't think that's true, but I do find creativity as the fountain of my energy. I easily slip into its mania for days on end.
- Speaking of 'creativity'; big word. To me that means expressing myself and unmasking through any medium I want, whether or not I'm skilled at it. 'Authenticity' and 'true self' are also tricky concepts, so I'll try explain it as best I can for myself: there's part of me that hears words on the wind, where every day life is poetry. That version of myself only grows when I cultivate it. In this 'version' (bit like a computer programme. Edition?), things flow and I feel at peace. People seem to be touched by the things I say - and so creativity becomes an act of service (external link).
I make music
Sort of. I write music that isn't polished, that are more thoughts than pieces. Whispers. They have their own little audience, so I try not to judge too hard what they are and what they aren't.
I have an album on Spotify.
Over there you can also find the Conversation Series.
Here's an example of fun things I do that are unreleased. Variations: The Swallows
I like to collaborate. Here's some examples:
I'm a writer
For me writing isn't about the finished product, but the journey along the way. So I write every day. If you'd like to receive this now and then, head over to Substack.
I'm currently writing a chapbook which I hope to finish by the end of 2023.
In the meantime, I'm on Instagram.
