The Sea and She
Dreams carelessly fall apart
And pull back together,
Less cause and effect
More rhythms, the waves;
So the sea and she taught me
To mourn lightly
Step softly. Break the hearts that
Really should have known better.
So I learnt, with acquired indifference
To put too-big shoes onto too-small feet and start moving;
Keep my heart bottled in a storm of chance
Pretend that actions have no consequence.
